The school is situated in the beautiful countryside of North Hampshire and enjoys panoramic rural views. There are five acres of playing fields to the rear and these are well used for a range of sporting activities including football, tag rugby and athletics. The children love to play on the fields when the weather permits and the Parents’ Association hold its annual Summer Fair on them.
A wooden adventure trail is situated to the front of the school. It has a range of exciting elements which encourage balance and coordination and recently we have welcomed the addition of a tyre park extension which has provided new physical challenges for the children. To the side of the school, there is a greenhouse and a small wildlife garden and around the school there are small vegetable plots. Mrs. Lewis runs a weekly gardening club and she and the children grow a range of produce, some of which is used in the school kitchen. To the front and rear of the school, there are good sized playgrounds each marked out with games. There is also seating in both areas providing places for quieter pursuits.
Inside the school each classroom is light and airy. There are acoustic panels on the ceilings and this ensures that the classrooms are calm and purposeful work places. Interactive whiteboards are now a part of everyday life from Reception to Year Six. The school has 48 laptops, enabling two classes at a time to use them and there are also desk top PCs in the classrooms. The school also has a bank of digital cameras and flip cameras that allow a range of photography activities to take place. The library is well stocked and there is a computerised system, ”Junior Librarian”, that allows children to borrow and return books.
In September 2010 the school acquired a 16 seater minibus. This transports children from Little London, Charter Alley and Monk Sherborne to and from school and it is also used to transport children to and from local places of interest and for inter schools’ competitions.
